Honda and the National Hockey League announced that the automaker will serve as the title sponsor for this year’s NHL All-Star Game, held in Los Angeles.
The announcement was made at the 2016 LA Auto Show where NHL Icon Wayne Gretzky was on hand to help unveil a custom-wrapped 2017 Honda Ridgeline, which will be presented to the most valuable player of the All-Star game on Sunday, January 29th at the Staples Center.
“Honda shares a love for the game of hockey with millions of fans around the world, and we are pleased to support the effort to host this ultimate showcase of the NHL and its incredibly talented players in our backyard,” said Jeff Conrad, Honda senior VP & GM.
“We look forward to working with the NHL to create some fun for fans throughout the 2017 All-Star Weekend including the intersection of Hockey and Hollywood that will be arriving at LA Live the last weekend of January.”
The custom-wrapped 2017 Ridgeline will be showcased at the LA Auto Show until November 27th, giving visitors plenty of time to take a photo with the truck at the Honda booth.
The automaker will also serve as a sponsor to one of the skills competitions, namely the Honda NHL Breakaway Challenge, where some of the biggest names in Hockey will showcase their skills in front of goal.
Honda is currently celebrating nine years as the Official Vehicle of the NHL, and will continue to support the league throughout the 2016-2017 season. Aside from the all-new 2017 Ridgeline, models such as the Pilot SUV and the CR-V crossover will be featured at future NHL-related events, including the Draft, Stanley Cup Playoffs and Stanley Cup Final.
