Land Rover displayed publicly, and for the first time in the U.S. the all-new Discovery in Venice, California ahead of its LA Auto Show debut, alongside the brand’s latest lifestyle gear for activities like surfing, boating, cycling and fitness.
The new Discovery is based on Land Rover’s lightweight aluminum construction, which helps it cut approximately 1,000 lbs from the weight of the outgoing LR4. It still offers room for seven, thanks to the (optional) third row of seats.
The engine range for the US includes two V6s, a supercharged 3.0-litre petrol unit with 335hp and a 3.0-litre diesel with 254hp and 440lb-ft of torque. Land Rover claims the new Discovert to offer up to 14 percent greater fuel economy for petrol-powered models.
“The Land Rover Discovery is the perfect choice for today’s active consumers who need vehicles that make their lives easier and more enjoyable. Whether it’s an exciting vacation or just a quick trip to the beach, the seven seat option provides versatility for any adventure, big or small,” said Kim McCullough, Vice President of Marketing, Jaguar Land Rover North America.
Pricing will kick-off at $49,900 MSRP, with the new Land Rover Discovery to also be present at the upcoming LA Auto Show.
