There’s no denying that the Kodiaq is an extremely important model for Skoda, as it represents their first-ever seven-seat SUV, as well as an attempt at rivaling cars such as the Hyundai Santa Fe.
As Auto Express editor James Batchelor puts it, the Kodiaq has to be an extremely versatile SUV in order to compete in such a popular segment, where people have extremely high expectations and it’s never just about practicality.
The Kodiaq needs to be a desirable car, first and foremost, and according to Batchelor, this is one of the most beautiful cars in the segment, looking “as good as an Audi.”
What about driving dynamics or interior quality you may ask? Well, it seems the Kodiaq is a very well put together SUV. The reviewer states that it drives very VW Group-ish, similar to a Superb, Passat or a SEAT Ateca. It also does very well and when it comes to interior quality
In the UK, the Kodiaq is priced from £21,495 OTR, which lands you an entry-level 1.4 TSI model in S trim, boasting LED daytime running lights, 17″ wheels, leather-covered multifunction steering wheel, air conditioning and smartphone connectivity.
This flagship Edition spec model however adds pretty much everything, from dual-zone climate control, rain & light sensors, 19″ alloys, power tailgate, sat-nav with WiFi, Drive Mode Select, Alcantara upholstery, heated front seats, full LED headlights, Lane Assist, High Beam Assist, wireless charging, Blind Spot Detection and chrome roof rails.
Still, at £32,685, the Kodiaq Edition flagship model is only £4,000 shy of a similarly spec’d Land Rover Discovery Sport SE Tech, which would set you back £36,350.
