You’ve probably heard that NextEV’s NIO EP9 has shattered the Nurburgring record for electric vehicles.

But how did the actual run look like? Well, quiet, to say the least, but that doesn’t make it any less exciting.

The exact time needed for the Chinese zero-emissions supercar to complete the 20.8 km (12.9 miles) long lap was 7 minutes and 05.12 seconds, almost 17 seconds less than the previous record. This means that the NIO EP9 is actually faster on the infamous track than most internal combustion-powered supercars, including the Ferrari 488, Pagani Zonda F Clubsport, Lamborghini Aventador, and Nissan GT-R Nismo.

Before moving to the actual footage, we will remind you that the NIO EP9 features four inboard motors and four individual gearboxes, producing 1,360 PS (1,341 HP) and 1,480 Nm (1,091 lb-ft) of torque (6,334 Nm/4,671 lb-ft at the wheels). This is enough to allow it to shoot form rest to 100 km/h (62 mph) in just 2.7 seconds and up to a top speed of 313 km/h (194 mph).
