Audi Hungaria started producing cars back in 1998, when the TT hit the assembly lines, and now, 18 years later, the automaker celebrates 1 million vehicles assembled in the European country.

The milestone model is another TT, from the latest generation this time, an RS Coupe finished in Catalunya Red and powered by the 30 millionth engine made in the brand’s Gyor facility, in Hungary, which has been responsible for assembling powertrains since 1994.

Present at the ceremony together with the Lord Mayor of Gyor Zslot Borkai and the plant’s employees, the Chairman of the Board of Management of Audi Hungaria, Peter Kossler, said:

Thirty million engines and one million automobiles are a meaningful milestone in the 23-year history of Audi Hungaria. I am proud to be able to hold this celebration, together with the current 11,400 employees at Audi Hungaria. We will continue to rely on the dedication and outstanding performance of our team in the future. They produce our engines and cars in premium quality and, as a result, delight our customers all over the world.

Besides the Audi TT RS Coupe, the Gyor plant is also responsible for assembling the TT RS Roadster, the regular versions of the sporty model, the A3 Sedan and A3 Cabriolet. Additionally, with the construction of a new body shop that covers 80,000 square meters (861,113 square feet), the car manufacturer is preparing to welcome the Q3 on the production lines as well.
