Customer deliveries of the potent Audi RS3 LMS have just commenced prior to the start of the TCR racing series.
The two cars were purchased by Cadspeed-Racing and Speed Factory Racing Team and will make their racing debut at the Dubai 24 Hour race that’ll take place from January 12 to 14. Additionally, the vehicles will be able to compete in the Nurburgring 24 Hours and the VLN Endurance Championship in the dedicated TCR series.
The head of Audi Sport customer racing, Chris Reinke, commented: “Following successful development and testing, production of the RS3 LMS was launched at the end of November. The delivery of the first cars to customer teams is a special moment for this project that is still young. We are delighted about the great demand and already very excited about the first races of the RS3 LMS in the customer’s hand.”
In late October, the German automaker fielded the new RS3 LMS at the final VLN series race at the Nurburgring, where it finished first in its class.
The model itself was revealed at the Paris Auto Show and rather than the five-cylinder of the road car uses a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder delivering 330 hp. It sprints to 62 mph (100 km/h) in a brisk 4.5 seconds but, more importantly, is able to corner at immense speeds thanks to its downforce-inducing bodywork add-ons.
