The Subaru Impreza may not be one of the finalists in the 2017 European Car of the Year or 2017 NACTOY, but it managed to win the title in its homeland.
Voted as the overall winner in the 2016-2017 Japan Car of the Year awards, the new Impreza beat the Toyota Prius and Audi A4, which sit on the second and third place, respectively, followed by the Volvo XC90, Mercedes-Benz E-Class, Abarth 124 Spider, Jaguar F-Pace, Honda Freed, Nissan Serena and BMW M2.
“It is a great honor that the Impreza has been recognized with this distinctive award. I would like to thank our customers, suppliers, and shareholders for their continued support for Subaru, and I am grateful to all those who contributed to this achievement. We will continue to enhance our efforts to offer an ‘enjoyment and peace of mind’ driving experience to all customers“, commented Yasuyuki Yoshinaga, President and CEO of Fuji Heavy Industries.
In the United States, the 2017 Subaru Impreza comes exclusively with a 152-horsepower 2.0-liter Boxer engine, with prices starting from $19,215. Those looking into better equipped variants can go for either the Premium, Sport, or Limited, with the latter kicking off from $24,915.
