Following an extensive testing program that has seen prototypes cover a combined 1 million miles (1.6 million km), London Taxi Company (LTC) will debut their new electric taxi at the 2017 Goodwood Festival of Speed.
The vehicle will tackle the famous Hill Climb in front of an estimated audience of some 200,000 visitors, in a class that showcases the latest prototypes and concept cars from automakers around the world.
Grabbing the wheel in the new electric cab will be 17-year old Katie Milner, who is known for being the fastest woman in the Ginetta championship. Her run will mark the world dynamic debut of the vehicle, the first taxi ever on the Goodwood Hill Climb, and the youngest female driver to take part in the event.
Besides putting it through its paces, LTC will also have it on display, at the FoS Michelin Supercar Paddock, where it will share the same space with some of the hottest vehicles on the planet.
Designed to meet the requirements of drivers and climates of cities around the world, the London electric taxi, which will go on sale later this year, uses an electric motor that is backed up by a range extender.
