As a Nissan Juke or Toyota C-HR rival, the Hyundai Kona is meant to be both quirky as well as modern, featuring an appealing design to go with plenty of goodies for tech-oriented buyers to enjoy.
We already knew that Hyundai placed both Android Auto as well as Apple CarPlay into the Kona’s infotainment system, to go with HD radio, a rear-view camera, plus 4G telematics.
One thing that stands out though is the introduction of smartphone wireless charging, a first for this segment, and something that’s depicted in the presentation video below – as is the Head-Up Display and the type of information it will project on your windshield.
The videos also show us which buttons operate the Lane Keeping Assist, the Blind-Spot Collision Warning system or the HUD, with the latter utilizing a screen that pops out of the dashboard showing your current speed, sat-nav info and current active safety settings.
Speaking of which, the Forward Collision-Avoidance Assist (FCA) will bring the car to a complete stop if an obstacle is detected ahead, while other features such as the Lane Keeping Assist (LKA), High Beam Assist (HBA) and Rear Cross-Traffic Collision Warning (RCCW) are also tasked with keeping you safe.
The previously mentioned wireless charging capabilities of the Kona are also depicted for the first time on video, with users receiving a notification via the small display between the dials regarding the status of their phone.
Also, thanks to Lastzone as well as Hyundai’s European arm, we can check out several new images of the Kona’s styling, with highlights such as the LED units and muscular front and rear fenders. According to the Korean automaker, it’s a design that should appeal to Millennial buyers.
