So far we really didn’t have the chance to listen to the soundtrack of Toyota’s upcoming Yaris GRMN hot hatch, but the first signs are more than promising.
You would expect Toyota’s first true hot hatch after a really long time to make its video debut somewhere like a track but apparently, nothing gets you more excited for a new model like a team of professional dancers showing off their moves.
In any case, we’re glad to hear that the supercharged 1.8-litre under the bonnet of the Yaris GRMN produces a raspy, angry soundtrack that matches the pocket-rocket character of the model.
All we know so far is that the engine will make more than 207hp (210PS), mated exclusively to a six-speed manual gearbox. Toyota also claims that the 0-62mph (100km/h) will be class-leading, meaning faster than models like the Fiesta ST and the Renault Clio RS.
The chassis has been updated with additional bracing, a Torsen limited-slip differential, a set of shorter springs, bespoke Sachs dampers and a fatter front stabilizer bar, with Gazoo Racing tuning the suspension on the Nurburgring.
Toyota says that they will offer the new Yaris GRMN exclusively as a three-door and despite our spies spotting a five-door version during some testing. Sales of the new Toyota Yaris GRMN will begin in early 2018 in Europe, so expect the full details in the coming months.
