Seat’s move to ask the public for a name on the upcoming seven-seat SUV resulted in huge success, as 133,332 people from 106 countries submitted their suggestions.
The Spanish car maker received a total of 10,130 different Spanish place names, which was the criterion for the new model’s name.
“The results obtained have overwhelmingly exceeded all expectations,” said Seat president Luca de Meo. “Not only has this collaborative initiative sparked great interest among our brand followers, but thousands of other people have also contributed by proposing a name for our new SUV. We’re counting on them to vote for their favourite candidate in September”.
The first stage of the process is now completed and Seat is entering the pre-selection phase, bringing brand experts, an external naming agency and customers from different countries to make sure that the final name will not translate into something embarrassing somewhere outside of Spain.
Seat will announce the final candidate names at the Frankfurt Motor Show, with the public getting to vote their favorite option from 12 to 25 September. The final winner for Seat’s upcoming 2018 SUV will be announced by October 15.
