When Ford finally got around to releasing performance details about the 2017 GT earlier this year, it said the new American supercar is faster around a track than both the Ferrari 458 Speciale and McLaren 675LT.
That’s all well and good, but the Speciale was over three years old and the McLaren two years old when Ford revealed these times, and in the meantime a new crop of supercars has come out.
So, while we wait to see how the GT competes against the likes of the Ferrari 488, McLaren 720S and Huracan Performante around a circuit, we have found a clip of it going toe-to-toe with a 2017 Camaro ZL1 at Mid-Ohio.
Filmed from inside the Camaro, the clip shows that, on a track, the muscle car can stick with the half a million-dollar supercar. Obviously, if a professional racing driver drove the two back-to-back, it is the Ford GT that’d easily set the fastest lap time, but still, the video does highlight just how capable the new ZL1 is on a racetrack and perfectly demonstrates its roaring, supercharged V8.
