Porsche’s long-awaited 2018 911 GT2 RS debuted at the Goodwood Festival of Speed over the weekend and in the clip below, we get to see what the new track-focused 911 is all about.

The ultimate road car to ever wear the fabled 911 badge, the new GT2 RS took two and a half years to develop and has a 3.8-liter twin-turbo flat-six engine, not dissimilar to the engine of the Turbo and Turbo S.

However, the engine has been overhauled for use in the GT2 RS and delivers 690 hp (700 PS), allowing the rear-wheel drive sports car to sprint from a standstill to 62 mph (100 km/h) in just 2.8 seconds. A top speed of 211 mph (340 km/h) is also achievable.

Throughout the weekend, the likes of Andreas Preuninger, Porsche’s GT model line director, as well as ex-rally driver Walter Rohrl, took the car up the hillclimb and were able to explore just what it is capable of. According to Preuninger, “it’s going to make history” and if the on-paper figures translate to blistering lap times around the world, we think he could be right.
