Audi is edging closer to making the RS Q8 a reality, recently filing a trademark application for the name with the European Union Intellectual Property Office, Auto Guide reports.
Officials are yet to grant the trademark but work on the high-performance SUV set to wear the badge is already well underway.
According to the most recent reports, the Audi RS Q8 will go head-to-head with the BMW X6 M and Mercedes-AMG GLE63. Thanks to Audi’s relationship with Lamborghini, the RS Q8 will have the same platform as the Urus and could therefore use the same 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8 engine as its Italian sibling.
Design inspiration will come from the Q8 Sport Concept unveiled by the carmaker at March’s Geneva Motor Show in Switzerland. Consequently, pundits can expect an edgy design making the most of Audi’s current design language with sharp corners, limited curves and all manner of aggressive body panels.
