Hennessey is following in the footsteps of Underground Racing by announcing a twin-turbo version of the Audi R8.
It’s unknown how much power the German supercar will have to cope with once it will be ready, but the one tuned by the latter makes an impressive 2,200 WHP on race fuel, and 1,200 WHP on pump gas.
“We are excited to build out a twin-turbo engine upgrade for the Audi R8. This is a beautiful car, and a great platform to make much faster. This build is in progress, but before we started, we grabbed some photos to show this beauty off”, Hennessey wrote, referring to the car pictured here.
The most powerful version of the second-gen Audi R8 that money can buy straight from the factory is called the V10 Plus. It uses the same sonorous 5.2-liter naturally aspirated V10 engine that’s shared with the Lamborghini Huracan, which is rated at 602hp (610PS) and 413 pound-feet (560Nm) of torque, and allows the supercar to go from 0 to 62mph (100km/h) in 3.2sec, and up to a top speed of 205mph (330km/h).
Audi is asking at least $194,400 for the R8 V10 Plus Coupe on this side of the pond, while the base version of the exotic machine is $30,000 cheaper.
