Aerodynamics is important, not just to supercars but to zero-emissions vehicles too, like the upcoming second-generation Nissan Leaf.
Nissan continues the teasing game, despite a major leak of photos that show their new electric model out in the open with no camo at all, giving us a bit more info about the Leaf’s new aerodynamic design.
The design of the new Nissan Leaf was “inspired by airplane wings” according to the company as they wanted to make its shape as efficient as possible in order to achieve maximum driving range.
Thanks to Nissan’s engineers, the new generation Leaf sits lower to the ground and generates zero lift for better stability at high speeds and during strong crosswinds as well.
Entry level models are reportedly going to be offered with a 40kWh battery pack, with a more expensive version of the Leaf getting a larger 60kWh unit for a driving range up to 340 miles (547km).
Nissan will pull the wraps off the new Leaf EV on September 6 at Tokyo, just ahead of the model’s public debut at the Frankfurt Motor Show.
