2018 Hyundai Accent Making U.S. Debut In The O.C, On Sale This Fall

Hyundai’s all-new Accent is coming to the U.S. this week for its official reveal, at the Orange County International Auto Show.

The fifth-generation Accent will be displayed at the Anaheim Convention Center on Thursday, September 28th, where Michael Evanoff, Hyundai’s car product planning manager will also be on hand to answer questions.

The new Accent already made its North American debut in Toronto earlier this year, boasting a revised 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, updated design and a strengthened chassis.

Thanks to 132 horses and 119 lb-ft (161 Nm) of torque, the 2018 Accent will get from 40 to 80 km/h (24-49 mph) 0.2 seconds quicker than its predecessor. Same goes for its 80 to 120 km/h (49-74 mph) times, which have been improved by 1.3 seconds.

The 1.6-liter petrol unit will work together with either a six-speed manual or a six-speed automatic, while low-friction piston rings, upgraded ECU and variable fuel pressure module lead to a 7% improvement in fuel economy.

In terms of safety, the car features an improved frontal crumple zone, as well as upgraded front side airbags, Autonomous Emergency Braking and a rear view camera. Inside, buyers can enjoy the 7″ touchscreen display with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, the voice-controlled search functions, dual USB and auxiliary input jacks.

As for styling, you’re looking at a more muscular appearance, with a sportier grille and sharper headlights and taillights.

The 2018 Hyundai Accent is scheduled to go on sale this fall.
