Global production of the insane Jaguar XE SV Project 8 will be restricted to just 300 units globally. Consequently, it’s not surprising the British marque has affixed a rather ridiculous price tag to the sports sedan.
Car and Driver claims that U.S. buyers of the Project 8 are looking at a steep $188,495 sticker price for the privilege of owning the most powerful Jaguar ever. By comparison, British owners will spend £149,995 on the car, meaning American buyers actually get the better end of the deal.
At this stage, Jaguar has yet to decide how many units will land stateside. However, the U.S. did receive 50 units of the 250 Jaguar F-Type Project 7s built, indicating that approximately 60 Project 8s may be heading to the United States.
For their hard-earned cash, buyers will receive arguably the craziest sports sedan to ever leave Europe. Sitting at the heart of the Jaguar XE SV Project 8 is a supercharged 5.0-liter V8 with 600 PS. Paired to this engine is an eight-speed Quickshift transmission that sends power to all four wheels thanks to an Electronic Active Differential. The 0-60 mph (96 km/h) sprint therefore takes a mere 3.3 seconds before the car keeps accelerating until 200 mph (321 km/h).
