For fans of the Fast & Furious franchise, it could hardly get any better than owning one of the cars used in one of the movies – or so we would imagine. Yet one such car went unsold at auction recently.
The car in question is a modified 1999 BMW 323iS used in 2 Fast 2 Furious. Don’t recognize it? It’s the one that crashed into the water-filled impact attenuators on the highway chase scene.
Not the one that actually crashed, though – the producers were said to have made three of them for the movie, and this one is obviously still in tact.
Despite its (relative) star power, it went unsold at Mecum’s auction in Louisville this past weekend. Maybe it was the automatic transmission, but for whatever reason, bidding topped out at $15,000, which apparently wasn’t enough for its current owner to part with the movie car.
So if you like what you see, and are willing to spend more than that, it could still be up for grabs.
