Even though we can find plenty of cars better suited to take on the new Panamera Turbo, this friendly race against its lighter and sportier sibling, the 718 Boxster S, goes to show how different they really are.
While it’s true that the Panamera Turbo is a lot heavier than the Boxster S, it’s also got considerably more power and torque, being rated at 550 PS (542 HP) and 770 Nm (567 lb-ft).
It also has all wheel drive and can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) from a standstill in just 3.8 seconds. However, since this drag race features a rolling start, we reckon the Panamera will just rely on its muscle to take care of business against the Boxster.
Speaking of which, the sporty 718 Boxster S is packing 350 PS (345 HP) and 420 Nm (309 lb-ft) of torque, which allows it to get from 0 to 100 km/h (62 mph) in 4.4 seconds, as long as you go for the PDK automatic version.
Granted, these two models never have and will never rival each other in any way. However, it’s still interesting to see the difference in performance, which could come across as a little bit surprising to some.
