Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) has operated a few changes to the Discovery Sport and Evoque ranges in North America, where both vehicles are now in their 2018MY.
The most significant change is the introduction of the 2.0-liter four-cylinder Ingenium gasoline engine, which comes to replace the previous GTDi unit.
Available in two outputs: 237hp (240PS) and 251lb-ft (340Nm) of torque, and 286hp (290PS) and 295lb-ft (400Nm) of torque, it’s available on both the Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque.
The automaker claims that in its highest output, the 2.0L-powered Evoque needs 6.0sec for the 0-62mph (100km/h) sprint, and tops out at 144mph (232km/h). The Discovery Sport, on the other hand, is 0.4sec slower.
Besides benefiting from the new engine, the 2018 Range Rover Evoque also has new colors added to the palette, standard auto-dimming side mirrors on the HSE trim levels and up, and Dark Sport Textured Trim Finisher on all versions, except for the Landmark Edition and Autobiography. Moreover, optional Wi-Fi connectivity, upgraded to 4G, is also available, along with the new Lunar/Ivory interior color added to the SE Dynamic Convertible.
The 2018 Range Rover Evoque marks the debut of the Landmark Edition, which slots between the SE Premium and HSE grades, and it’s only available as a 5-door model. It can be had in several exclusive exterior colors, with special touches, and 19-inch rims.
Inside, this version of the premium compact SUV has been equipped with Ebony perforated grained leather with Lunar contrast stitching, ebony headliner, and dark satin brushed aluminum trim.
JLR has also made a few changes to the 2018 Discovery Sport, which gets a more aggressive styling and 20-inch rims on certain grades, new colors, seats, 4G Wi-Fi, and auto-dimming side mirrors.
The 2018 Range Rover Evoque can be had from $41,800, and the 2018 Land Rover Discovery Sport carries a $37,795 starting price, both without destination and delivery.
