During the 2011 Tokyo Motor Show, Nissan unveiled a NISMO-tuned Leaf EV, wearing a bulbous aero kit that didn’t really scream “sporty”.
Since the Leaf is technically a compact hatchback, the best it can hope for when it comes to aesthetics is to look more or less like a hot hatch, which for all intents and purposes, this second-generation Leaf NISMO Concept does.
Making its public debut in Tokyo as we speak, the new Leaf NISMO Concept is nothing if not more aggressive. The sporty bumpers, side skirts, rear diffuser and red accents definitely help with that.
These upgrades are only meant to enhance the car’s aerodynamic performance, while the red accents, contrast stitching and sporty steering wheel improve the overall look of the cabin.
According to Nissan, the new Leaf NISMO Concept also features special software that delivers instant acceleration at all speeds. Add the sport-tuned suspension and high-performance tires and voilà, the most fun Leaf ever built.
In fact, this car actually reminds us of the Pulsar NISMO Concept from 2014, which is undoubtedly a good thing.
