Whether it will have a manual option or be offered solely with an automatic transmission is one of the many mysteries surrounding the all-new Toyota Supra.
Even its name is not a certainty, as it could be sold under the Gazoo Racing (GR) brand, which is currently limited to the Japanese market, but will soon be introduced to other regions, including Europe.
The latest prototype that was spied on the roads near the Nurburgring before running on the famous track, doesn’t reveal that much either, but it’s equipped with what appear to be production lighting units on both ends, incorporating LED technology.
What we do know about the successor of the iconic sports car is that it shares most of its underpinnings with the upcoming BMW Z4, which was previewed by a concept wearing the same moniker, a couple of months ago.
Contradicting reports mention several powertrains that could be found in the engine compartment. These include the 250hp four-cylinder and 335hp six-cylinder units, while it appears that Europeans might be able to order yet another four-pot. Additionally, chances are that the new Supra will also get a hybrid powertrain.
Toyota remains tight-lipped when it comes to an official presentation date, but we expect the new sports car to debut sometime next year.
