The bubble has burst in the poverty-torn African country Eswatini (Swaziland until last year), as King Mswati III has extended his already impressive car collection with no less than 19 Rolls-Royces.

According to TimesLive, his majesty’s latest purchase will benefit the family, which includes 15 wives and 23 children. Quoted by the South African publication, Pudemo (People’s United Democratic Movement – opposition party) general secretary Wandile Dludlu confirmed the report.

“Last week (early November), a total of 19 Rolls-Royce cars were delivered to Swaziland for the exclusive use of the king, his mother and his wives”, Dludlu commented. “To say this is a blatant display of arrogance and total disregard of the poor people of Swaziland’s feelings by the monarch would be an understatement.”

Among the fleet of Rolls-Royce vehicles, there is a Cullinan as well. The luxury SUV is said to have been fully customized and will be used by the king himself.

Aside from the stunning display of cars made in Goodwood, King Mswati III has allegedly placed an order for 120 BMWs. Different local sources state numerous blue- and white-finished 540 sedans and X3 SUVs were delivered to the country that’s landlocked by South Africa and Mozambique.

The ruler is an avid consumer of German vehicles, as he apparently owns 20 (!) Mercedes-Maybach S600 Pullmans, a Maybach 62 and a BMW X6. He also expanded his private air fleet by buying another private jet on his 50th anniversary last year, for which he allegedly paid $13.2 million.

It’s unknown yet whether the cars were ordered directly from the BMW Group, which is Rolls-Royce’s parent company, or if they were bought through an intermediary. In another case, earlier this year, an investigation revealed that Daimler had no idea that North Korea’s ruler Kim Jong-un had bought several armored Mercedes-Benz cars.
