The late Bob Regehr was a man who truly loved American cars. After the invention of the Moon Walk bouncy house fifty years ago brought him and his wife a fortune, he set up a wonderful car collection.

At the moment, it comprises no fewer than 133 vehicles, the vast majority of which are American. The oldest is a 1928 Ford Model A while the youngest is a 1987 Ford Mustang GT Convertible. The only exceptions to the self-imposed U.S.-built rule are a 1973 Jaguar XJ6 and a 1979 Ferrari 308 GTS.

The collection also includes two Japanese motorcycles, a 1970 Suzuki and a 1976 Honda CJ360, which together with the two aforementioned cars make up the only import vehicles in this group.

Bob Regehr’s collection includes everything from Camaros, Corvettes, 1950s GM and Ford cars, with the latter ranging from the aforementioned 1928 Model A to the 1987 Mustang GT Convertible. Interestingly, a large part of the Ford collection is dedicated to the 1932 model year: there are seventeen of those in the Midwest garage where they are stored.

Besides the Ford vehicles, which represent the focus of the collection covering mostly the 1930s, ‘40s and ‘50s, there are several C1, C2 and C3 Corvettes, most with original paint and numbers-matching engines. Regehr also owned several 1957 Chevys in all trim levels, including a Bel Air Convertible.

According to Hot Rod Magazine, which ran a story on the collection in 2009, Bob’s favorite car was an unrestored 1953 Buick Skylark convertible that he had tracked ever since his neighbor bought it new.

There are several muscle cars too in this group, such as a 1968 Chevrolet Camaro SS convertible, 1969 Chevy Camaro Indy pace car convertible, 1970 Plymouth Cuda drag car and a mildly modified but unrestored 1972 Pontiac GTO that used to be a dealership drag car. The rest of the collection comprises cars and trucks from most American brands of the 1930s to the 1960s.

The reason we bring this collection up is because it will be offered up for auction on October 24, 2020, at the Kansas State Fairgrounds in Hutchinson, Kansas.
