The Peugeot 508 PSE plug-in hybrid has just been unveiled and already Autogefühl has had the opportunity to test it out.
Available in both five-door liftback and wagon guise, the 508 PSE comes from the Peugeot Sport Engineered division and is the brand’s most powerful road car ever.
Powering the 508 PSE is a 1.6-liter turbocharged four-cylinder engine supplemented by one electric motor at each axle. Coupled to this powertrain is an eight-speed automatic transmission and an all-wheel drive system. All up, the car pumps out 355 hp and 384 lb-ft (520 Nm) of torque.

Peugeot says the 508 PSE can sprint to 62 mph (100 km/h) in a 5.2 seconds and tops out at 155 mph (250 km/h). The French automaker’s new sports sedan can also sprint from 50-74 mph (80-119 km/h) in a just 3 seconds.
As respectable as these figures are, what is perhaps more impressive is the fact that the car consumes just 2 l/100 km (115.7 mpg US / 139 mpg UK) and CO2 emissions stand at 46 g/km in the WLTP cycle. In addition, the 508 PSE has five driving modes, one of which is an Electric mode that allows the 508 PSE to cruise for 26 miles (42 km) in silence. The 11.5 kWh battery of the Peugeot can be charged in less than 7 hours when using a standard domestic socket, a time that drops to under 2 hours at a 7 kW wall box.
