Creating a distinctive sound for a multi-million fully electric supercar is not an easy task, but the Battista from Automobili Pininfarina will definitely stand out in that regard. The sound of the hypercar is called “Suono Puro”, with a deep base frequency that is said to have a “positive influence on the driver’s comfort and wellbeing”.
The sound was created after more than 2,000 hours of work, including composition, development, and fine-tuning by sound designers and engineers. For its development, Pininfarina collaborated with Novo Sonic.
At idle speed, the Battista resonates at 54 Hz which is three octaves below 432 Hz, a frequency widely used by classical music composers like Mozart and Verdi, and the sound of Tibetan singing bowls. On paper, those numbers may not mean much to the average person but according to Pininfarina listening to the Battista will make you feel great.

In order to prove the positive effect of the sound on the human body, which consists of more than 70 percent water, Pininfarina tested the frequency by transmitting it through the water. As you can see in the official video, the sound created beautiful symmetrical ripples. We guess that this correlates to a pleasant tingling feeling when cruising around in a Battista.
The sound is emitted by the Naim Audio system with 12 interior and exterior speakers, specifically designed to project the 54 Hz tone across the whole frequency spectrum in the best possible quality. The sound experience will be different in each of the driving modes of the Battista (Calma, Pura, Energica, Furiosa, and Carattere) corresponding to the hypercar’s performance.
The Pininfarina Battista, first unveiled in 2019, shares its underpinnings with the Rimac Nevera. In the Italian hypercar, the quad electric motors produce a combined 1,874 hp (1,397 kW / 1,900 PS) and 1,741 lb-ft (2,360 Nm) of torque, allowing a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) sprint in less than 2 seconds. The 120 kWh battery provides an electric range of 500 km (310 miles). The first deliveries of the EV are expected later this year, with the total production limited to 150 units in Pininfarina SpA’s Cambiano factory.
