Recently we covered a stunning Dodge Charger restomod that was designed in part with its owner, Ralph Gilles. Gilles is the head of design over at Stellantis and was the guy behind cars like the Chrysler 300C and the updated Viper. It got us thinking. What’s the best-looking restomod you’ve ever seen?

Most often, restomods are associated with muscle cars like the Charger. Gilles’ Hellucination is certainly worthy of mention but it’s not all that original either. Ring Brothers has built similar vehicles and not long ago we covered Kevin Hart’s 1970 Plymouth Roadrunner. Of course, not all restomods are muscle cars.

Legacy Trucks build one of the world’s most capable and burly Dodge Power Wagon restomods on the planet. Aside from a diesel engine with 350 hp (261 kW), it has an updated chassis, suspension, braking components, and more. Icon will build you all sorts of stunning classic vehicles like the Bronco or the Ranger with modern running gear.

Mind you, restomodding isn’t just an American hobby. The Cyan Racing Volvo P1800 is finally coming to the States with an eye-watering $700,000 price tag. It’s undoubtedly beautiful and thanks to Cyan, it’s very fast.

There’s no shortage of places to get a Porsche restomod these days either. Evomax, Strosek, or Theon Design will all build you a custom 911. Singer has almost graduated from restomod creator to something above and has even partnered with Porsche itself.

Japanese products aren’t off the table. Prodrive has just recently announced a project that will see an updated restomod tribute to the hallowed Subaru Impreza WRX rally car that started the brand’s longtime success in the WRC.

But keep one thing in mind. The car we’re looking for doesn’t have to have mainstream recognition. Perhaps you’ve found a restomod that’s hiding away in your hometown or you’ve witnessed something truly special at a local car show or cars and coffee and you want to give the owner some recognition. So, what’s the best restomod you’ve seen? Let us know in the comments below!
