Kia and Electrify America today announced that owners of the new 2023 Niro EV will receive 500 kWh of complimentary charging at Electrify America stations across the U.S.
“With the launch of the new Niro EV, we are expanding our collaboration with Electrify America to enable Niro EV drivers to experience all-electric road trips with the added benefit of quick recharging,” said Steven Center, COO & EVP, Kia America.
That, the companies say, could amount to 1,950 miles (3,138 km) of free driving, depending on how careful a driver you are and if the weather is ideal for your vehicle. Regardless, it should provide the 64.8 kWh battery pack in the new Niro EV with quite a few charges.

Updated for 2023, the second-generation Kia Niro EV can use DC fast chargers in the U.S., which means that it can be recharged from 10 to 80 percent in less than 45 minutes at max charging power. An optional heat pump and battery warmer, meanwhile, help maximize range and prepare the battery for faster charges.
“Kia and Electrify America understand the importance of DC fast charging for electric vehicle drivers,” said Giovanni Palazzo, president and chief executive officer of Electrify America. “We are thrilled to expand the collaboration and help provide Niro drivers with confident DC fast charging on our coast-to-coast network of 800 stations.”
Larger and more luxurious than the model it replaces, the 2023 Niro EV makes up to 201 hp (150kW/204 PS) and 188 lb-ft (255 Nm) of torque. It has a targeted range of 253 miles (407 km) per charge on the EPA test cycle.
A fancy infotainment system, meanwhile, means that, in order to take advantage of their free kilowatts, Niro EV drivers can search for Electrify America stations in their in-car navigation app. Owners will have three years from the date of purchase to use their free charging credit before it expires.
