Thanks to documents published by Chinese authorities, we now get our best look yet at the new Ford Edge Hybrid. With sleek, simplified new styling, the new Edge looks like a significant update over the current model.
The hybrid version will look just like the ICE-only versions of the Edge, whose design was first revealed in August. That means a wider grille with a chrome brow line over it that continues into the headlights.
The overall design has changed a lot, as compared to the current Edge, with straighter, more modern lines that make the new vehicle look a little more grown-up. The character lines along the side have been smoothed out, and hiding door handles give the SUV a more high-end look.

New rear lamps extend farther across the tailgate, and the brake lights are stacked to give the rear of the vehicle some visual intrigue. Although the upcoming Edge Hybrid does have a muffler, it is completely hidden on this model and the rear bumper has no cutout, nor any fake exhaust tips.
More importantly, the Edge has been lengthened by 122 mm (4.8 inches) over the current model. It now measures 5 meters (197 inches) in length, which should give it more room inside and brings it in closer competition with the likes of the Toyota Highlander. No photos of the cabin have been shared as part of this document, but the new Ford Evos could provide a hint as to what the automaker is thinking in terms of interior design.
This model, in particular, is powered by a 2.0-liter gas engine in combination with an electric motor. They combine to make up to 271 hp (202 kW/275 PS), which is about 30 more (22 kW/30 PS) than the outgoing model.
Although the ministry has somewhat stolen its thunder, Ford plans to officially unveil the new Edge at the 2022 Guangzhou auto show, which opens on December 30.
