It’s hard to believe the current Hyundai Tucson will turn three this fall, but that’s clear today as the company is working on a facelifted crossover.
Spied undergoing testing in the Alps, the crossover is heavily disguised but doesn’t appear to be radically different. That being said, we can see a more adventurous grille that echoes the one found on the Santa Cruz. The rest of the front end is covered by camouflage, but we can see a new bumper and evolutionary lighting units.
Despite the extensive disguise, additional changes appear limited. However, we can expect a modified rear bumper and updated taillights. The latter can be seen peeking out from beneath the camouflage, but the outer lights look pretty familiar.

Spy photographers didn’t get a good look inside, but the cabin was disguised and this suggests it will be updated as well. The extent of the changes remains unclear, but we wouldn’t be surprised to find a new steering wheel and an updated infotainment system.
The current Tucson offers an assortment of powertrains including a 2.5-liter four-cylinder pumping out 187 hp (139 kW / 190 PS) and 178 lb-ft (241 Nm) of torque. Customers can also opt for a hybridized 1.6-liter turbo with a combined output of 226 hp (169 kW / 229 PS) and 258 lb-ft (349 Nm).
A plug-in hybrid variant is also available and it builds on the standard hybrid by adding a more powerful electric motor and a larger 13.8 kWh battery pack. This gives the crossover a combined output of 261 hp (195 kW / 265 PS) and an electric-only range of 33 miles (53 km).
