It’s been nearly two years since the Lynk & Co 08 was first unveiled, and after a prolonged wait, it’s finally making its way to Europe. Set to touch down in June with a starting price of €52,995 ($55,600), it will be available exclusively as a plug-in hybrid. The good news? It offers an impressive 124 miles (200 km) of all-electric driving range for those who live in denial of fossil fuels.
Underpinning the Lynk & Co 08 is the sale basic CMA Evo platform as other Geely products, including the Polestar 2 and Volvo XC40. Many key specifications about the European model haven’t been announced, but it should sport the same setup as the Chinese model. That will mean a 1.5-liter turbocharged four-cylinder and a 39.5 kWh battery pack that helps it achieve 124 miles (200 km) of electric range or a total driving range of 683 miles (1,100 km).

Lynk & Co sells both front- and all-wheel drive versions of the 08 in China, with the latter featuring a pair of electric motors. Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on which PHEV powertrain will be available in Europe, but we do know that the battery pack will take 33 minutes to charge from 10% to 80%.
Competing in the crowded SUV D-segment, the 08 stands out from the competition with a bold and unusual design. Like all other models from the brand, it has LED daytime running lights that look like the talons of a falcon, while the main headlamps are positioned along a strip below the shut line of the hood. There’s a black front grille and a set of wheels with intricate aero covers that should aid in efficiency.

A look at the 08 from the side reveals black wing mirrors, a black roof, and a sharp black accent on the front door. Like plenty of other new cars, the door handles sit flush with the bodywork. The automaker’s intriguing design philosophy continues at the rear with LED taillights, a light bar, and a sporty black diffuser.
Inside, the 08 mirrors the Chinese specification model, which comes equipped with a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster and a massive 15.4-inch central infotainment display. But that’s not all—Lynk & Co has gone big with a gargantuan 92-inch head-up display (yes, really), ensuring that you’ll never be without information in your peripheral vision.
In Europe, the 08 will be available in two trims: Core and More. While the exact differences between them remain a mystery, we’re guessing one is for those who love the basics, and the other is for those who want to flex with all the bells and whistles. Either way, the 08 has enough tech to make your head spin—and you can always get that 92-inch head-up display to help you keep track of it all.
