It seems that Tesla is in a full-on offensive and plans to have at least two models with falcon-wing doors in its line-up.
With the recently launched Model X, Tesla finally added a new product to its repertoire, but, as we all know, the American electric car manufacturer doesn’t plan to stop here. With a new Model 3 on its way – confirmed by Tesla’s CEO Elon Musk – and the construction of a Gigafactory, one might say that Tesla has a lot going for it, slowly becoming a complete, complex and significant car manufacturer.
Besides, once a company gets the hang of creating a recipe for success (like manufacturing cars with immense positive feedback and interest, in this case) it becomes some sort of a perpetuum mobile, spawning (or updating) product after product. So, we’re not surprised to learn that another Tesla-branded electric vehicle will be available in the future.
In a recent tweet – which was deleted – Elon Musk gave away Tesla’s plans by responding to a user who asked him if a Model 3-based crossover will sport the awesome falcon-wing doors. Apparently, Musk responded: “there will be a Model 3 and a Model Y. One of the two will.”
So, it appears that the Model Y is a legitimate future model, based on the upcoming Model 3. Of course, the billionaire entrepreneur didn’t offer additional information regarding the subject, but we can assume that the model won’t debut earlier than 2017 – as the Model 3 is scheduled to show its face in March 2016.
