Not Even The Bentley Torcal Can Avoid The First Edition Treatment
Fancy gets even fancier
It's only been a month since the all-electric Bentley Torcal was unveiled, and the British brand has already announced a special First Edition model that will initially top out the range. Loaded with features and the brand's most powerful electric drivetrain, it may be enough to sway some prospective buyers out of a gas-guzzling Bentayga. Bentley has offered a First Edition in the past, but the specialness of the fender badge wears off a little when the same name is used on the Dodge Charger, Ford Bronco, and Lexus IS — just to name a few.
Special elements for the Bentley Torcal First Edition include carbon fiber to the front bumper winglets, mirror caps, side sills, and rear diffuser. The most noticeable upgrade is, by far, the distinctive 22-inch wheels with a black and Liquid Silver finish. These wheels show off the self-leveling Bentley badges and give a peak at special Graphene Grey brake calipers.
Just like the Torcal S, the First Edition uses a 113-kWh battery pack, two electric motors, and an 800-volt electrical architecture, providing a combined 875 horsepower and 996 pound-feet (1,350 Nm) of torque with launch control. This grunt is enough to send the SUV to 62 mph (100 kph) in just 2.9 seconds and through to a 162 mph (260 kph) top speed. The First Edition offers support for DC ultra-fast charging at up to 400 kW, meaning the sizeable battery can be charged from 10-80% in less than 20 minutes.
Bentley hasn't forgotten about the interior
Bentley has set out to make the Torcal First Edition's cabin even more special than the "standard" model. Buyers will be offered two unique color splits by Mulliner, in addition to eight accent colors and the option to add a third interior color. A full leather interior will also be available, along with contrast stitching. In terms of standard equipment, the First Edition is equipped with gloss carbon fiber accents and deep-pile floormats, while passengers enjoy maximum luxury from the Bentley's Wellness front seats with heating, ventilation, and massaging functions and Rear Comfort Seats.
The Bentley Torcal First Edition also adds a Frosted Diamond Switchable Sunroof, Bentley's fancy name for a glass roof that can switch from opaque to clear. Rounding out the standard features are powered front and rear doors and a 28-speaker, 1,780-watt Naim audio system with Dolby Atmos. Bentley has not announced pricing for the Torcal First Edition, and it hasn't said if production will be limited.
