Good News, RUF Completes First Production-Spec 2020 SCR; Bad News, It Costs $743,000

Two years after the RUF SCR was unveiled at the Geneva Motor Show in 2018, the German brand has just completed work on its first production-spec SCR.

The car was recently displayed at an event at the company’s headquarters in Pfaffenhausen, Germany. Also present at this event was the RUF Rodeo Concept inspired by the Rodeo Drive Concours d’Elegance.

RUF’s SCR is an important vehicle for the brand as it doesn’t feature Porsche underpinnings and instead rides on the company’s own carbon fiber monocoque chassis. This monocoque is also featured in the new-age Yellowbird and comes complete with pushrod suspension on both axles.

Powering the RUF SCR is a naturally-aspirated 4.0-liter flat-six engine that’s rated at 510 hp at a dizzying 8,270 rpm and 346 lb-ft (469 Nm) of torque at 5,760 rpm. Exclusively coupled to this engine is a six-speed manual transmission sending power to the rear wheels.

Much like the RUF SCR show car displayed in Geneva two years ago, the first production-spec model is painted in a dark shade of green. The sports car is also sitting on a set of twin, five-spoke wheels finished in white and sitting over a set of yellow brake calipers.

There’s also a prominent ducktail spoiler at the rear while the cabin is bathed in luscious brown leather and incorporates retro-inspired black gauges. Making the vehicle all the more desirable is the fact that its exterior parts are made from carbon fiber. RUF intends on building 15 units per year each with a starting price of €650,000 (US$743,525).
