Ferrari has announced the seven design schools that have been selected among 50 contestants from all over the world, to participate in the second stage of its World Design Contest that is organized in collaboration with Autodesk.
The schools that made it to the second round are: IED and IAAD from Turin (Italy), the London Royal College of Arts (UK) the European Design Institute Barcelona (Spain), Seoul’s Hong-ik College (Korea), the DSK Supinfocom from Pune (India) and the College For Creative Studies in Detroit (USA).
The design proposals from each school were reviewed by a committee headed by none other than Luca di Montezemolo himself and who, thanks to the quality of the competition, decided to include seven, instead of the originally intended six, in the final stage.
In the second round of the contest, each design schools will submit three prototypes in 3d Autodesk and as a 1:4 scale model. The purpose of the contest is to give us a glimpse of the Ferrari of the future, which must offer driving pleasure, as expected of a supercar bearing the Prancing Horse, but also use the latest technologies and be super-light and ecological.
The results will be announced in July, and the winners will receive an internship at Ferrari as well as cash prizes, while Autodesk will present an award to the school that makes the best use of its Alias software to develop the 3D model.
