Apparently, Aston Martin isn’t the only British automaker to lose contact with reality when it comes to pricing special edition models. Soon after Aston Martin slapped a €48,995 (equal to £44,100 and US$70,700 at the current exchange rates) sticker on its Colette-trimmed Toyota iQ…err… we mean Cygnet, the BMW Group division announced that its new MINI Inspired by Goodwood is priced at £41,000 (€45,600 or US$65,700).

MINI began accepting orders on Thursday with the first cars to be delivered in Britain in March of 2012. Production of the luxurious hatchback, which is the result of collaboration between MINI and the Rolls Royce Motors Cars design team, will be limited to 1,000 examples.

On the outside, the MINI gets a Rolls-Royce Diamond Black metallic finish and 17-inch light alloy wheels sporting a multi-spoke design.

The designers paid more attention to the interior that gains higher-grade materials and trim along with bespoke colors inspired from Rolls Royce models and added standard features such as Adaptive Headlights, Park Distance Control, automatic air conditioning, an onboard computer, MINI Navigation and the audio system Radio MINI Visual Boost.

The Rolls Royce-price-inspired MINI is offered exclusively with the Cooper S’ 1.6-liter turbocharged four delivering 184-horses.
