When Scion announces a new model year change for one of its vehicles, more often than not, it concerns an upgraded audio system and nothing much else. That’s the case with the 2012MY xB which enters the new model year with a standard AM/FM/CD/HD/USB 160-watt maximum output Pioneer audio system, which includes HD Radio technology and Bluetooth connectivity allowing for both hands-free phone connection and streaming audio capability.

Those that don’t mind digging a little deeper into their pockets can order the optional 200-watt maximum Pioneer Premium audio system that has the same features as the standard unit but is enhanced with a 5.8-inch LCD touch-screen display, iTunes tagging and Pandora internet radio connected through iPhone and six RCA outputs to add external amplifiers.

Sales of the 2012 xB will start in July with the five-speed manual gearbox model carrying an MSRP of $16,300, and the four-speed automatic model, $17,250, not including a delivery, processing and handling (DPH) fee of $720.
