New troubles are brewing for the never-ending roller-coaster that is Saab. On Friday, one of Saab’s many unpaid suppliers, SwePart Verktyg AB, lost its patience and applied for the Swedish automaker’s Saab Tools subsidiary to be declared bankrupt.
This is the first time that one of Saab’s suppliers has made such a move. The Swedish automaker’s parent company, Netherlands-based Swedish Automobile (SWAN), issued a short statement saying that it will try to resolve the problem as soon as possible:
“Swedish Automobile N.V. confirms that one of the suppliers of Saab Automobile Tools AB (Saab Tools) filed for bankruptcy of Saab Tools, a subsidiary of Saab Automobile AB. The District Court has received the filing, but has not yet rendered a judgement which is expected in a few weeks. Saab Tools is currently assessing the issue and aims to resolve the issue as soon as possible.”
On Thursday, Saab announced that it would not resume production at its Trollhatan plant on August 9, 2011 as originally planned due to a lack of funding and supplies, pushing the start date towards the end of the month.
