Last time we wrote about the 2012 Honda CR-V, it concerned a prototype, a blogger and four-vehicle accident – not the best of news for the Japanese company. Now, thanks to the Honda-loving crew over at Temple of Vtec and scoopster Brenda Priddy, we have video footage of the next-generation CR-V crossover testing on the road.

The spied 2012 CR-Vs are wearing less camouflage than usual with only the front and parts of the rear end wrapped up in black plastic.

The Japanese carmaker recently teased the successor of its best-selling crossover model via a concept, which like the Civic sedan and coupe studies before it, is a loosely disguised version of the production car sprinkled with some showcar elements like the designer wheels and glossy black body trim work.

We expect to see the CR-V either at the Frankfurt Motor Show in Germany this September or a little bit later at the Los Angeles Auto Show in November. Either way, Honda says its new crossover will reach U.S. showrooms by the end of the year and European dealers in the fall of 2012.
