It’s been a bumpy road for the Chrysler Group’s Dodge Caliber compact crossover that was introduced in 2006 as a replacement to the Neon, under the supervision of Mercedes-Benz’s parent company Daimler, which then controlled the U.S. automaker.
But the end appears to be near as the usually well informed on Chrysler Group matters Allpar site is reporting that production of the Caliber will end on November 23, 2011, according to “documentation recently sent to dealers”.
The move sounds just given that during last year’s product blitz, Fiat, which is now the boss of Chrysler, made only minor changes to the Caliber in the form of a re-tuned steering system and improved equipment features.
Furthermore, it has been reported by inside sources that Chrysler is planning to introduce a successor to the Dodge Caliber at the upcoming Detroit auto show in January of 2012.
The American firm’s new compact size model is believed to be a four-door sedan based on the platform architecture of the Alfa Romeo Giulietta with power coming from a Fiat-derived 1.4-liter turbocharged gasoline engine.
