Audi’s solution for those searching to combine the practicality and roominess of a station wagon model with the higher ground clearance, all-wheel drive and body protection of an SUV is the Allroad Quattro series.
The urban-offroad combo treatment has been offered for a while now on Audi’s palette of station wagon models, and with the introduction of the latest A6 Avant earlier this year, we knew it was only a matter of time before we heard news about an Allroad Quattro model.
Today, our spies dropped a single photo of what looks to be a completely undisguised prototype of the 2013 Audi A6 Allroad Quattro.
While there’s no way of knowing what lurks under the hood, we see that the test model features a jacked up suspension providing a higher road clearance, roof rails, plastic body armor around the wheel arches and what looks to be a skid plate under the rear bumper.
We wouldn’t be surprised if Audi showed the A6 Allroad Quattro either in Frankfurt next month or at the LA auto show in November.
