McLaren Automotive announced today that Singapore-based businessperson Peter Lim has made a significant investment in the company and has also joined the McLaren Automotive Board of Directors, effective immediately.
Ron Denis [pictured above], McLaren Automotive and McLaren Group Executive Chairman, commented: “On behalf of the McLaren Automotive board, I welcome Peter Lim and look forward to working closely with him as our company expands into the Asia region. Peter Lim’s track record in Asia as a highly respected business leader adds further quality to our board in this highly competitive business environment at an exciting time for the company”.
McLaren is currently delivering the first of its new MP4-12C supercars, for which demand in the Asia-Pacific region is very strong and, according to the company, accounts for around 18 months of production.
At the same time, the British automaker is expanding its network of 35 dealerships in 19 countries including Honk Kong, Japan and Singapore. Deliveries in the Asia-Pacific region are expected to begin in late 2011 and gear up in 2012.
