Production of the coupe variant of the world’s fastest hypercar, the Bugatti Veyron 16.4, may have come to an end this year, but its targa-top Grand Sport sibling will continue hanging around for a bit longer.
And we all know what that means – yes, Bugatti is preparing yet another special edition of the Veyron Grand Sport. Our spies recently nabbed a prototype model testing on the road. We’re not sure of the name, but it is believed that it will follow in the lines of the 1,200HP Veyron 16.4 Super Sport.
The flagship version of the Grand Sport will most likely keep the Super Sport coupe’s modified 8.0-liter 16-cylinder engine with four enlarged turbochargers and bigger intercoolers that help boost output from 1,001HP to a 1,200HP and peak torque from a massive 1,250Nm to a mind-boggling 1,500Nm (1,106 lb-ft).
Other changes should include the use of more exotic materials on the monocoque and the body shell and a reworked suspension.
