A British police officer made headlines today after the release of a dramatic in-car video footage showing him being violently tossed into the air when a stolen BMW rammed his patrol car, only to get up and chase down the offender on foot.
It all went down on July 3 when the Surrey police was in pursuit of 29-year-old Lee Ralph Adamson for stealing a BMW. Police Constable Dan Pascoe was getting ready to set up a roadblock off the M25 when the offender crashed onto his vehicle.
Amazingly, Pascoe quickly got up and started chasing Adamson who had abandoned the BMW and was running on foot. The police officer managed to catch up with the offender and stop him with his taser gun.
Inspector Chris Colley, the head of Surrey police’s roads policing unit commented on the incident:
“The officers, particularly PC Pascoe, had to react extremely quickly and despite the shock and possible injuries they may have sustained during the collision they were determined not to let the suspect get away.”
“Thankfully, PC Pascoe only sustained minor injuries as a result of the collision but it’s clear that the extremely dangerous manner in which the stolen vehicle was being driven could easily have resulted in a tragic outcome,” Colley added.
As for Adamson, he pleaded guilty to several charges and was sentenced to 23 months in jail.
