While BMW officials were content with the new 1-Series M Coupé’s 340-horsepower strong, the German tuning industry thinks otherwise.
Just before the grand opening of the largest motor show of the year that takes place in Frankfurt from September 13 to 25, AC Schnitzer released details on its comprehensive tuning package for the smallest member of the BMW M family.
At the heart of the conversion lies a modified version of the 1 M Coupé’s 3.0-liter turbocharged inline-six that delivers 400-ponies at 6,100rpm and a peak torque of 560Nm (413 lb-ft) at 4,700rpm, up from 340HP at 5,900rpm and 450Nm (+50Nm overboost) between 1,500 and 4,500rpm.
AC Schnitzer says the uprated engine allows the coupe to complete the 0-100km/h (62mph) sprint in 4.7 seconds (vs 4.9 sec) and reach an unrestricted top speed of 300km/h (187mph).
The company claims the increased power is balanced by a high performance brake kit with 6-piston fixed calipers up front and a 4-piston fixed calipers at the rear, a height-adjustable racing-specification suspension and a choice of weight-optimised 19 or 20-inch wheels.
Exterior enhancements include an aero kit that comprises of a carbon fibre front spoiler, chrome trimmed side and bonnet air vents and a carbon fibre rear diffuser.
Inside, AC Schnitzer paints the centre console and interior trim in “Valencia Orange” and adds aluminium gear knob, handbrake handle and foot pedals. Customers can further personalize the look of the cabin with an AC Schnitzer sports steering wheel in alcantara, special leather trims and velour floor mats.
