Following in the footsteps of its Bavarian parent company, the MINI brand is celebrating next year’s London 2012 Olympic Games with the release of a new limited edition series based on the three-door hatchback model.

The British firm plans to build 2012 examples of the special edition series in Cooper, Cooper D, Cooper S and Cooper SD trims, which will be available in a choice of three colors Chilli Red, White Silver or Lightning Blue.

Regardless of the trim, all models get white mirror caps and a white roof with the London 2012 Olympic graphic. Other exterior features include a unique Union Jack single sport stripe running over the bonnet, roof and rear tailgate, while special graphics can also be found on the side scuttles.

A newly designed set of unique grey 17-inch conical spoke alloy wheels that are unavailable on other MINI models, complete the look.

As for the interior, the most unique feature is the London skyline etching on the passenger side supplemented by the words “London 1 of 2012”.

The Union Jack color theme continues on the headrest piping as well as with the red and blue stitching twined with white piping on both the front and rear Black ‘Lounge Leather’ upholstery, while a London 2012 logo is stitched on the inner edge of both front seats.

Standard features include Lounge Leather sports seats, DAB radio, air conditioning, cruise control and chrome interior touches.

UK buyers can order the special edition MINI now with first deliveries arriving in March of 2012.
