Audi may have changed the name of its midsize model series from 80 to A4 in 1994, but it’s the same vehicle lineup and together, these two models reached a production milestone when the ten millionth example rolled off the assembly line in early October.
The production landmark was a top-of-the range Audi S4 finished in a Misano Red color with a black and alabaster-white interior.
“Ten million midsize vehicles is an achievement which makes us thrilled and proud,” said Frank Dreves, Board Member for Production at Audi AG.
“With our strong team and our effective Audi production system, we will continue writing this success story, especially as a modified version of the Audi A4 will soon be launched,” Dreves added.
The brand with the four-rings launched its very first Audi 80 in 1972. Since then, Audi has presented four generations of both the 80 and the A4 series. In March of 2011, the Ingolstadt-based automaker celebrated the five millionth A4.
On Wednesday, Audi presented a refreshed version of its A4 series which includes the sedan, Avant, Allroad Quattro and S4 models.
