About a month after announcing pricing for the new 2012 Rio five-door hatchback, Kia today released prices for its four-door sedan sibling that starts from $13,400 or *$14,150 if you include a $750 destination and handling fee, for the base model with a manual gearbox. That’s $200 less than the equivalent 5-door variant.

If you prefer to not to change gears manually, the automatic transmission version of the base Rio sedan begins at $15,250.

The 2012 Rio sedan is available in three trim levels, LX, EX and SX, all powered by a 138HP 1.6-liter Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) four-cylinder with the option of either a six-speed manual (LX only) or a six-speed automatic.

The Rio sedan has an EPA-estimated fuel economy rating of 30mpg city and 40 mpg highway. In 2012, Kia will also offer an Idle Stop and Go (ISG) system that promises to further improve fuel efficiency.

Standard equipment features across the range include air conditioning, electric power steering, an MP3 audio system with USB and auxiliary ports, SiriusXM satellite radio with three months complimentary service, Electronic Stability Control (ESC), ABS, Hill-start Assist Control (HAC) and Vehicle Stability Management (VSM).

The top-of-the-line SX starts at $18,250 and adds a host of features, including metal pedals, LED front accent and tail lights, a bespoke meter cluster, leather-wrapped steering wheel and shift knob, power-folding mirrors, dual illuminated vanity mirrors, and the UVO powered by Microsoft voice-activated infotainment system with a rear camera display.
