After showing us the regular versions of its new 2012 ML-Class SUV earlier this summer and of course, at the Frankfurt Motor Show in September, Mercedes-Benz is gearing up for the world premiere of the flagship ML 63 AMG this November at the 2011 Los Angeles Auto Show.
As we extensively reported in our previous spy shot stories, the new generation of the AMG-badged ML-Class will replace the current model’s naturally aspirated 6.2-liter V8 engine producing 503HP and 465 lb-ft [U.S.-spec] with a new 5.5-liter twin-turbocharged V8.
We still don’t know the output numbers, but we assume that the new direct-injection V8 will deliver somewhere close to the 525HP and 516 lb-ft / 700Nm in normal guise, and 557HP and 590 lb-ft / 800Nm with the optional AMG Performance package, it does on the 2012 CLS 63 AMG sports saloon.
The eight-cylinder unit will be hooked up to the German brand’s seven-speed Sportshift automatic transmission delivering power to all four wheels.
Look for Mercedes-Benz’s wild SUV in showrooms in spring of 2012.
